About

The Brazzale family represents the oldest Italian company in the diary industry with eight generations of uninterrupted activity.
Founded at the end of 1700, Brazzale started producing and trading butter and cheese between the Asiago plateau and the Po Valley.
At the starting of 1900, the company built an industrial butter factory in Zanè, a strategic location close to the major cheese market in Veneto.

During the 1970s, Brazzale expanded his business in the packaging of cheese, with modern plant to cut, grate and package the cheese.
From that time on, Brazzale has experienced a significant international growth that has brought the company to own agro-industrial plants in central Europe and South America.

In the 2000s, Brazzale started the production of Gran Moravia: a hard cheese produced with Italian techniques in the Czech Republic plant. Lately, the company branded the Gran Moravia Eco-Sustainable chain that gained many certifications and prizes.
Among others, the Gran Moravia has been the first cheese in the world to set and communicate its Water Footprint, not only with a brand, but also with multimedia labels that allow consumers to access more informations about the products.

Know-How

After completing the certification process required by ISO standards, in June 2011, the Gran Moravia cheese and its supply chain have been certified for their responsibility and sustainability features.
Beyond the mere compliance with the ISO requirements, Brazzale has also scored important results on key parameters for environmental and social impact, that are now monitored and publicly communicated by a third party.

The supply chain consists of a network of more than 80 farms, directly coordinated by Brazzale’s technical staff, 90.000 hectares of cultivated lands and almost 18.000 diary cows.
The integrated and “closed cycle” system allows a continuous traceability of each phase of the production.

According to Brazzale, the respect for the environment across the supply chain turns directly into final products that are both healthier and superior in quality, making it a unique case on the market.

In the State of Mato Grosso do Sul in Brazil, Brazzale has developed a sustainable model for cow breeding called Silvi Pastoril,
Thanks to the creation of a special protocol between Brazzale and Ouro Branco, its local subsidiary that takes care of the breeding, it will be possible to create an eco-sustainable biological cycle that fully respect both the animal welfare and the natural balance.

By transforming a vast territory, previously dedicated to monoculture by farmers, into a new meadow for cow breeding, Brazzale committed to planting 300 trees each bovine, for a total of some 600,000 trees.
Cattle, though monitored and controlled, will live wild into an area free of chemical fertilizers, eating only grass.

These efforts from Brazzale try to embrace the topic of sustainability by intervening on the whole supply chain. The creation of such a self-sustaining model is one of its kind in the diary sector, helping to safeguard biodiversity as well as animal welfare.
