Renato Bisazza founded the company in 1956 with the name of Vetricolor (later renamed Bisazza) in Alte, Vicenza. It was the first company to mass-produce mosaic tiles with an industrial system that poured the molten glass into steel molds instead of cutting glass by hand. With this innovation and the adoption of electric furnaces, Bisazza made high quality mosaic tiles accessible.
The next big advance for the company was not an industrial innovation, but a new brand strategy that came in the 1990s when it began collaborating with leading architects, designers and artists to create design objects with its mosaics. This prompted the launch of the Bisazza Bagno and Home lines.
Today, the second generation leads company. Its distribution network currently includes 8 flagship stores in Milan, New York, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, London, Los Angeles and Miami, as well as 2,800 retailers around the world.

It has also expanded its tile collection to include wood, cement, and marble.
Today, Bisazza is no longer known solely for its production of industrial glass mosaics, but has gained importance in the luxury furniture design sector with its Bagno and Home lines.
